The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

Book Description:
The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #2)
Percy Jackson, hero of the The Lightning Thief, returns to Camp Half-Blood and undertakes a perilous voyage to save the camp in this modern-day adverture with a Greek mythology twist.

Percy Jackson's seventh-grade year has been surprisingly quiet. Not a single monster has set foot on his New York prep school campus. But when an innocent game of dodgeball among Percy and his classmates turns into a death match against an ugly gang of cannibal giants, things get …well, ugly. And the unexpected arrival of Percy's friend Annabeth brings more bad news: the magical borders that protect Camp Half-Blood have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and unless a cure is found, the only safe haven for demigods will be destroyed. Percy and his friends must journey into the Sea of Monsters to save their beloved camp. But first, Percy will discover a stunning new secret about his family—one that makes him wonder whether being claimed as Poseidon's son is an honor, or simply a cruel joke.

My Thoughts:
I completely enjoyed this second installment of the Percy Jackson Series.  There haven't been any real issues with Percy and monsters at his school this year.  He does have a good friend at school.  Then everything changes the day Annabeth comes to see him.  He and some monsters have already gotten into a fight, Annabeth brings horrible news about camp and there is more to his friend than he ever imagined.
I really do love these books.  Listening to them in the car with my kiddos is just a wonderful time for us all.  It also gives us something to talk about later as well.  Percy is such a good kid.  Always good intentions anyway.  Lots of things go wrong for him but he works through them to get the best outcome he can.  I love his never give up attitude.  Annabeth is great too.  She is a steadfast friend and just so amazingly smart.  Tyson is a new favorite of mine as well.
5/5 for us and we are listening to the next already :)
